Lobbying for change
Our indispensable advocacy work starts at branch level, where issues important to each branch are raised and conveyed to State Office for inclusion in the annual State Conference. Issues can be broad, varied and changeable. They may be locally important or be significant across Queensland.
The annual State Conference is the QCWA's formal assembly where these initiatives may well become watershed points in improving lives, amenities and services.
Resolutions such as access to midwifery services, dental care and speech therapy; patient transport subsidy, hazard reduction practices and water management; education around Irlen syndrome and Q Fever, are contributed.
It is these issues, carried at State Conference, which inform where the Association harnesses our collective influence to lobby governments; Local, State and Federal, communities and special interest groups, for increased awareness, improvement and ultimately change.
