Richard referred to a recent announcement from the QCWA International Board of Directors announcing the awarding of 36 scholarships for 2015, in the total amount of $75,000 US. He noted that the QCWA Scholarship fund is one of the charities that Chapter 70 donates to regularly, and that some of these scholarships have been awarded to Canadian students in the past. Members who may be aware of potential applicants were encouraged to nominate them for possible awards; nominations will be opening shortly.

He stated that charitable donations were made to Radio Amateurs of Canada and to the QCWA Scholarship Fund. Barry noted that no action had been taken on the purchase of equipment as the need was not felt to be immediate, and the funds approved for that purpose are being kept in reserve. The proposed budget for 2015 was also presented; it is basically similar to the 2014 budget. Moved by Joe Parkinson and seconded by Bryan Rawlings that the Treasurer’s report be approved. Carried.   Budget and Financial report at end of minutes.

The Past President position is ex-officio (Dave Conn, VE3KL). The only executive position that needs to be filled at this meeting is the position of Secretary. The current Secretary, Norm Rashleigh VE3LC has indicated his willingness to serve for another two-year term. Richard asked whether there were any nominations from the floor.
