Annual Message from the president:

 

Dave Conn, VE3KL commenced with his annual report of past year activities:

 

*   Dave mentioned the Chapter is strong and has 86 members, one of the largest of any.

*   Dave thanked the volunteers and Executive for their dedication and hard work for QCWA Chapter 70; specifically George Roach VE3BNO for attending the 2012 QCWA Reno Convention,  Doug Leach, VE3XK for running   our Web site, Marcel Lemay, VE3FNG for handling the pins and certificates, John Barnhardt for being our photographer, Jim Dean, VE3IQ for running the net for which Dave encouraged all members to try to check into the net regularly Monday evenings.

*   Dave said a special thanks to John Gilbert, VE3CXL as an outgoing Director and George Roach, VE3BNO as outgoing Director and acting VP.

*   Dave thanked past guest speakers for 2011/12.

2) Minutes of the September 18th, 2012 dinner meeting:

 

Dave VE3KL, asked for approval of the September 18th, 2012 minutes as posted on the Chapter 70 website.   This motion was moved by Dick Bonnycastle and seconded by Norm Rashleigh.  Carried.

 

3)      Secretary’s Report:  Report from Norm Rashleigh VE3LC.

Norm Rashleigh reported that all those that had given permission to allow their e-mail addresses released have been sent have been sent to QCWA Inc..  He asked for a showing of hands of those at the meeting that had received an email back with a access password to the QCWA.org site.  A good showing of hands was indicated.  He further said that anyone that had not given permission and wanted to do so, please let him know.

 

4)      Treasurer’s report and proposed Budget – The Treasurer’s report was presented by Dick Bonnycastle VE3FUA. 

The current figures and 2013 budget tabled at this meeting are shown at the end of these minutes.

Dick Bonnycastle, VE3FUA moved that the treasurer’s report and 2013 budget be approved and seconded by Joe Parkinson, VE3JG.  Carried

 

Dick also moved that donations for 2012 be: $500 for Radio Amateurs of Canada and $500 (US) to the QCWA Inc for the QCWA scholarship fund.  Seconded by Ken Pulfer.  Carried.

 

5)      Illness and SK Report:

 

Richard Ferch VE3KI reported the passing of Rod Newkirk, VA3ZBB / W9BRD .  Rod had been ailing for some time.  Rich called for a moment of silence and reflection.  A card was passed around for all to sign to extend our condolences to Rod’s wife, Betty, VE3ZBB and family.  It was further announced the Rod’s memorial service would be held on Thursday, Nov 22 at Tubman’s Funeral home on Richmond Rd. 

 

6)      The Nominating Report was presented by George Roach, VE3BNO, in Bob’s absence as follows: 

 
               President - Dave Conn until Dec 2013 (motion required)
               Vice-president - Richard Ferch, 2013-2014 (motion required)  
               Secretary - Norm Rashleigh, 2013-2014 (motion required)
 
The above to serve as proposed above:  Moved by Doreen Morgan, VE3CGO and seconded by John Barnhardt. Carried.
 
Further reported was:
 
               Treasurer - Dick Bonnycastle (serving his term until end of 2013);
               Director - Barry Allison (now serving his term until end of 2014);
               Past-president - Bob MacKenzie (still serving his term) and;
 

Doug Leach VE3XK has agreed to continue for another year as the     Web master and archivist for the chapter.

  

 

7)Privacy Policy, moved by Richard Ferch, VE3KI that privacy policy now posted on web site be accepted.  Seconded by Dick Bonnycastle, VE3FUA.  Carried

8)      After Dinner Speaker:  Wayne Getchell, VE3CZO gave a presentation on RF Analogue Design from Concept to First Prototype.   Introduction by David Conn and post talk thank you by Dick Bonnycastle.

 

 

9)      Door prizes and 50-50 draw: Dave VE3KL, assisted by Wayne VE3CZO, conducted the selection of winning tickets for the door prizes and 50/50 draw.  The winner of the 50/50 draw was guest Joy Tekenos-levy,VA3YOJ

 

            Next meeting: -

Before closing, Dave, VE3KL announced that the next luncheon meeting will be held at Robbie's Restaurant on Tuesday February 19, 2013. It will be held at noon hour, commencing at 11:15 am.  Our speaker will be Frank Stratton, VE3YY, who will speak on Modern Trailer Communications.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 pm.

Treasurer’s Report:

Dick Reported:

Bank Account, current balance = $3318.38 . This is an increase of from the $2233.54 balance Dec 30th, 2011.  The current balance above includes $250 that was set aside for PA sound system improvements and another $907 from estate sale proceeds to the Chapter.   We expect another $200 from year end dues for 2012.   While maintaining our float, this provides a carryover of  $3318-2233-907+200=$378 plus adding back $907 from the estate sale = $1285 available for the budget for 2013.

 

Dick further reported that since the last meeting:

*   Income in this period = $366.06

*   Expenses in this period = $53.83

*   Net increase in this period = $312.23

Also, proposed donations for 2012 are:

*   $500 to Radio Amateurs of Canada

*   $500 (US) to the QCWA Inc Scholarship fund (to be deferred until QCWA Inc charitable status (USA) status is confirmed).
