1) At 6:45 PM, David Conn, VE3KL welcomed about 50 Chapter members, spouses and guests, and introduced the head table.

Dave thanked the volunteers for their hard work and also thanked Barry Allison, VE3NJK for completing the 2011 audit for us. He was assisted by the work of Dick Bonnycastle our club treasurer.
Estate Sale of Clay Hiltz, VE3TL (SK in 2010)
Dave thanked the family of Clay Hiltz, VE3TL for donating a large portion of Clay’s radio equipment to the QCWA. So far we have collected over $900. He also thanked Doug Leach and Richard Ferch for doing such a fine job at the Smith’s falls flea market with the estate sale of VE3TL.
2) Minutes of the previous dinner meeting:
Dave, VE3KL asked for approval of the minutes of the February 21, 2012 luncheon meeting as posted on the Chapter 70 website. Moved by Dick, VE3FUA and seconded by John, VE3CXL that the minutes be adopted as posted. Carried.
3) Secretary’s Report: -
Norm Rashleigh, VE3LC, reported that there was nothing to report.
4) Treasurer’s report:
The Treasurer’s report was presented by Dick Bonnycastle, VE3FUA, as follows:
cash on hand: $2071.52
Dick also told the membership about the issue of sending cheques and bank drafts to QCWA International. The cost the US organization amounts to a $10 transaction fee per item. As a consequence, all funds for pins and membership, etc. sent to the QCWA HQ should be by “Pay Pal” which does not necessarily require a Pay Pal account by the sender.
Acceptance of the Treasurer’s report was moved by Dick Bonneycastle, VE3FUA, and seconded by John Gilbert, VE3CXL, Carried.
5) Illness and SK Report:
Richard Ferch VE3KI, reported on the sick and ailing members as follows:
Dave Parks, VE3AV was ailing and was not able to able this evenings meeting.
Rod Newkirk, VA3ZBB, remains confined to St Vincents long term care facility.
Bill Barrie, VE3AAS, is recovering from a fall injury.
Barc Dowden, VE3TT, a long time QCWA member has passed away.
Gib Walker, VE3BGX, a well known Ottawa area amateur passed away.
Paul Cassel, VE3SY, a well known Kitchen area amateur passed away.
Hap Chafe, VE3MW (previously VE3HRC), of Perth has passed away.
Alex Milne, VE3KIY, of Gloucester has passed away.
Margaret Heaslip, VE3EQE, lost her son James McKinley suddenly.
Duncan Schuthe, VE3GXU, lost his mother recently.
A minute of silence and reflection of all SK’s was observed at the meeting.

7) Bryan Rawlings, VE3QN
gave a wonderful report on WRC 12 and the success in achieving the new amateur allocation 472 to 479 KHz. Bryan also presented on behalf of the RSGB, their annual Calcutta Key Award to Ken Pulfer, VE3PU, as an amateur who has enhanced the furtherance of amateur radio internationally; this for Ken’s considerable contributions at many World Radio Conferences.
8) News and Notices:
· Dave VE3KL asked for a show of hands re interest in a field trip to the Kingston Communication Museum. Fifteen folks raised their hands.
· George Roach,VE3BNO, announced the QCWA Reno, Nevada convention that will take place Sept 25th, 2012.
· Norm Rashleigh, VE3LC, updated the group on new 60 metre band spot frequency allocations for Canada. Members of the Chapter were invited to review the Industry Canada consultation document, SMSE-010-12, that is currently posted on the Industry Canada web site.

11) After Dinner Speaker:
John Gilbert,VE3CXL presented a interesting talk " Analyzing and Indexing Old Photographs - Lessons Learned from Working with Photographic Collections". It was well received by all who attended.
He was introduced by Dick Bonnycastle, VE3FUA and thanked by Dave Conn, VE3KL
12) Door Prizes and 50-5 draw.
The Door Prizes for the ladies were presented by Dave Conn, VE3KL with the assistance of our guest speaker John Gilbert, VE3CXL. Winners were member Margaret Heaslip, VE3EQE, Kathy Petersen wife of Neal, VE3DHE, and Louise Rawlings, wife of Bryan, VE3QN.
The 50/50 draw was won by Ron Powers, VE3FIN.
13) Next meeting:
Before closing, Dave VE3KL announced that the next dinner meeting will be held on September 18 and that the guest speaker will be Michael Babineau VE3WMB to speak about Hellschreiber digital communications. He also encouraged members to check into the Monday night net: even a few times a year will help.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.
