3)                          Minutes of the November 20, 2012 dinner meeting:Dave VE3KL, asked for approval of the minutes as posted on the Chapter 70 website. Moved by Dick Bonnycastle, VE3FUA and seconded by John Barnhardt, VE3ZOV that the minutes be adopted as posted. Carried.

4)                          Presidentís report: Dave, VE3KL reported that Marcel is looking after the pins/certificates as usual. It would be appropriate to mention that this month marks the 40th anniversary of the Sunday morning 80M Pot Lid Slow Speed CW Net started and still managed by Ed Morgan, VE3GX with the active participation of Doreen Morgan, VE3CGO. 11AM on 3620 is the time and place and all CW ops are invited.


5)                          Secretaryís Report: Reported by Dave Conn standing in for Norm Rashleigh. All items now being done on-line at QCWA inc. Norm is gradually getting our members to sign up for the free QCWA Journal and back issues. The QCWA website has recently been improved and is useful to those members who sign up for access. Moved by Richard Ferch, VE3KI and seconded by George Roach, VE3BNO that the Secretaryís report be approved.Carried

7)                          Illness and SK Report:Richard Ferch VE3KI reported on sick and ailing members. Jim Dean has resumed his duties as NCS for our net. Clare Fowler, VE3NPC and Bill Barrie, VE3AAS both lost their wives recently.

8)                          Bob VA3RKM reported the need to recruit new executive††† members for Chapter 70 starting in January 2014, especially the President and Treasurerís positions. The executive feels that the presidentís position should be filled by one of the existing executive members and that we should find at least one new director.

9)                          Dave Conn, VE3KL introduced the issue of possible involvement by the chapter in the disposal of equipment that is surplus to the needs of those who are downsizing. Several comments were received, and it is hoped that more will be forthcoming on what should be done.


10)                      After-dinner presentation:Modern Trailer Communication, by Frank Stratton, VE3YY. Frank was introduced by Dick, VE3FUA and thanked by Dave, VE3KL. Frank has set up a wireless internet 850 MHz link to nearby Burnstown from the lake at which he and others spend the summer, then share the signal on 2.4 GHz through a repeater. The system is powered by solar cells with batteries.

11)                      Door prizes and 50-50 draw: Dave, VE3KL, assisted by Frank Stratton, VE3YY conducted the selection of winning tickets for the door prizes and 50/50 draw.The winner of the 50/50 draw was Dave Conn, VE3KL, who donated the proceeds of $24 to the Chapter.

Next meeting:Before closing, Dave VE3KL announced that the next dinner meeting (Spouses and Ladies Night) will be held at Robbie's Restaurant on May 21, 2013.It will be held in the evening commencing at 6:45 pm.Our speaker will be John Barnhardt, VE3ZOV who will present a photographic tour of a bicycle trip, the Great Waterfront Trail Adventure, which covered 720 km.
