1960-1970 - Dominion Observatory (Ottawa) - Gravity Division  - Scientific Officer
1970-1986 - Earth Physics Branch (formerly the Dominion Observatory) - Research Scientist
          1976 - University of Durham (UK) – Graduated with Ph D (Geophysics)
1986-1994 - Geological Survey of Canada (after the Dominion Observatory was absorbed into the GSC) - Research Scientist
2000-2006 - Geodetic Survey of Canada Research - Scientist Emeritus.

 

Amateur Radio History

 

1953-1960 – First licensed as VE7AIZ in Victoria, B.C.

1960-1970 - VE3BZS in Ottawa.

1970– to present VE2AEJ Lac du Cerf, QC
1974 - Advanced

1984 – to present VE3HX in Ottawa  

    
Active on 6 metres Moonbounce 1957-1959 at VE7AIZ 
 
Active on 2 metres Moonbounce 1960-1970 at VE3BZS/2 at Lac du Cerf
 
Member of the First Class CW Operators Club. 
 
Currently interested in searching for and analyzing in Long-Delay Echoes, mainly on the 10 metre band. Wrote QST article on LDE, published in QST – March 1980. Also wrote note to NATURE - 1990

 

Alan is a member of QCWA and Chapter 70. He was presented with his QCWA “55 Years Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2008 dinner meeting.
