1945-1945 – Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers 

1946 – University of Manitoba – Graduated with B Sc (Electrical Engineering)

1946-1959 – Northern Electric (Montreal) – Manufacturing Engineering – test equipment design, manufacturing methods.

1959-1971 - Northern Electric (Ottawa) – Research & Development Lab – product design, facilities engineering, and shops

1971-1987 – Bell Northern Research (Ottawa) - Research & Development Lab - product design, facilities engineering, and shops

1987 – Retired.


Amateur Radio History

1938 – First licensed as VE4ANZ in Winnipeg, Manitoba while in high school.

1946-1959 – Operated as VE2AN while in Montreal.

1959-1977 – Operated as VE3CYO when back in Ottawa

1977 – obtained “initials call sign” VE3ANO. Held since.


Active with CFARS and phone patching of remote stations during 60’s and 70’s.


Active on HF 10, 15, and 20M and 2M FM (bicycle, ski, skate, pedestrian and auto) until 2010.


Member of Pioneer Amateur Radio Club, Ottawa Amateur Radio Club, OVMRC and OVRC.


Served for many years with OARC team providing communications for Canadian Ski Marathon.


Member of QCWA and Chapter 70. Presented with QCWA Century Certificate and QCWA “70 Years Licensed” Golden Certificate and lapel pin at the Chapter 70 May 2008 dinner meeting.
